From this past December 5, 2014, until April 12, 2015, the National Museum of Women in the Arts will be holding an exhibition on the representations of the Madonna as, for instance, woman, mother and link between heaven and earth in Western art. The exhibit focuses on artworks from the Renaissance and the Baroque era, and draws from internationally renowned collections such as the Vatican Museums and the Uffizi Gallery. It features drawings, paintings and sculptures from canonical masters including Fra Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Pontormo, as well as Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.
