The BIBLE + ORIENT Museum of University of Fribourg is a museum in Switzerland with an internationally renowned collection related to biblical studies and Ancient Near Eastern civilizations. It boasts, for example, a large collection of Egyptian stamp seal amulets and bronze figurines, Mesopotamian terra cotta plaques and ancient Levantine coins. This coming Monday, October 20th, 2014, the museum reopens with a further enriched exhibition at a new location: Hall C of the University Miséricorde of Fribourg. The exhibition deals with themes such as the Canaanite roots of the birth of Israel, theological significance of sacrificial rituals, as well as the intertwining of Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian and Persian influences during the Hellenistic epochs. The museum also offers an online database and catalogue with more than 25,000 entries.
