The World of the Bible is thrilled to announce that Professor Daniel Fleming of New York University has joined its anglophone editorial board. As the English counterpart of Le Monde de la Bible, The World of the Bible has been inviting more anglophone specialists to help explore history, art and archaeology of the three great monotheistic religions. Professor Fleming, along with other members and the numerous specialists of the francophone editorial board, will guide The World of the Bible through scholarly nuances and difficulties. Below is a brief profile of Professor Fleming:
Daniel E. Fleming is Professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University. He holds a Master of Divinity from the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Doctorate from Harvard University. He has been the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship (2004-05), the American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship (2004-05), Senior Fulbright Fellowship to France (1997-98) and the National Endowment for Humanities Summer Stipend (1991). His research area covers Assyriology, interpretation and cultural history of the Hebrew Bible, interplay of ancient Near Eastern societies, as well as ancient Syria and ancient religion. Notable publications include Democracy’s Ancient Ancestors: Mari and Early Collective Governance (Cambridge University Press, 2004) and Time at Emar: The Cultic Calendar and the Rituals form the Diviner’s Archive (Eisenbrauns, 2000).
